Bio
Eric Musselwhite is a professional freelance musician, adjudicator, clinician, and educator. He is currently one of the band directors at Grafton Middle School in Yorktown VA, and also serves as adjunct faculty at Christopher Newport University in Newport News VA. Mr. Musselwhite has been an active performer for over twenty-five years performing with international artists including J.J. Johnson, Ed Neumeister, Rafael Benitez, Xiomara Alfara, Kevin Mahogany, Luisito Rosario, The Four Tops, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Oscar de Leon, Dave Matthews, Indigo Girls, Victor Manuelle, Frank Foster, and the O’Jays, and was a featured performer and clinician at the Jazz en Vercors Festival in Villard de Lans, France. He has served on the faculty at Elizabeth City State University, Chowan University, and at Christopher Newport University where he served as Interim Director of Jazz Studies. Honors and awards won by his students include winning auditions for the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Atlanta Youth Jazz Orchestra, Georgia All-State Jazz Ensembles, and the GMEA and VBODA All-District and All-State bands on a consistent annual basis with multiple first-chair awards. Eric Musselwhite holds a BM in Music Business from James Madison University, and an MM in Jazz Program Administration from Georgia State University.
